Professional Experience
Epirus
Software Engineer
June 2022 - Present
Epirus designed and built its first gimbal (azimuth and elevation motion) for a Naval/Marines program. I independently designed and implemented the entire positioner control software stack.
Deployed positioner control software on an Orin based computer. Used Rust, C++, and C, integrating encoders, motors, I/O module, and a remote-control pendant, all communicating via CanOpen.
Developed a state machine and structured software architecture plan, ensuring seamless integration with Epirus’ existing software suite.
Created a HIL bench for early-stage validation of motion control and CAN bus communication prior to full integration.
Employed GitHub Actions for automated state machine testing in hardware-out-of-the-loop simulations.
Optimized motor performance by analyzing current draw, profiling motor behavior, and tuning acceleration parameters to prevent overcurrent faults, enhancing system efficiency and reliability
Successfully passed factory acceptance tests and delivered to the Office of Naval Research for the Navy and Marines.
Developed factory acceptance test framework
Leonidas derivative product RF I&T Lead
Python, Influxdb, C++, C, Rust
Rhoman Aerospace
Machine Learning Intern
June 2021 - June 2022
Designed an AWS cloud based ML Model across multiple drone platforms to optimize flight control parameters for various flight modes including power conservation or path following.
Aided field test and manufacturing objectives
Eaton Aerospace
Product Engineer
June 2018 - July 2020
Carried out design & drawing modifications for new & existing customer applications.
Performed root cause analysis on defective products or product lines.
Support internal hose supplier lot acceptance issues through engineering problem solving methodology. (e.g., Design of Experiments (DOE), 8D, Red X).
Conferred with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to develop process changes and update corresponding Eaton internal specification control documents.
Participated in SAE specification change proposals to ease qualification for new products for future customer business.
Identified opportunities for product improvements and cost out through evaluation of manufacturing practices, assembly methods, and material cost reductions.
Directed a team of project managers, product engineers, and external lab personnel to develop and perform customer qualification testing in the presence of international government aviation authorities.
Conducted audits of external distributors to ensure Eaton quality and manufacturing processes are followed.
High Performance Work Team (HPWT) – Provide product engineering support to manufacturing including proposed floor process, tooling and fixture changes. Disposition non-conforming product including MRB signoff. Conduct specification reviews for orders to identify possible Eaton and customer drawing discrepancies.
Completed Eaton GD&T Training.
Nexteer Automotive
Product Engineering Intern
May 2017 - September 2017
Integrated hardware and software to improve contact pattern checks throughout all Nexteer plants to avoid unnecessary scrap costs.
Designed enclosure with integrated camera and lights to achieve consistent images with software capabilities in mind.
Used NX modeling, stacked tolerance and material analysis, to drive the most functional and cost-effective fixture design.
Collaborated with the prototyping lab to create most effective iteration of fixture prototype.
Developed code within Cognex Insight Explorer (image recognition software) to utilize hardware design capabilities.
Independently investigated multiple camera and software suppliers to identify ideal components.
EPS Driven - Collaborated with a team of ten interns to design and build a go kart from Nexteer scrap parts, and a rack EPS electric motor; placed 2nd out of 10 teams after design review.
